Fire Captain Steve Holt began his career in the fire service in 1987 as a firefighter with the Hayward Fire Department, where he served with honor and distinction for nearly 30 years. Steve promoted through the ranks to fire captain and received accolades for his work during the 1989 Loma Prieta Earthquake and during the 1991 Oakland Hills Fire. Steve loved board sports and was a professional skateboarder and snowboarder who also enjoyed surfing, renovating old fire alarm boxes and spending time with his wife and daughter. Steve succumbed to the effects of job-related cancer and is survived by his wife, Denise and his daughter, Kaitlyn.
